Letting your team have breaks during their shifts is a no-brainer. Deciding the rules for those breaks? Not so much. Thankfully that's your problem; we just provide the tools.
- Head over to the settings page by clicking on the cog icon at the bottom left of your screen.
- Select the 'Breaks' tab under the Scheduling heading on the left of the screen.
- Update any necessary settings, then click the save button at the top of the screen.
- When you create a shift you'll be asked whether it includes a break and how long the break is, which can get tedious if the answer is always the same. Instead of letting it slowly drive you insane consider setting a default break length, to be pre-populated.
- You can choose whether employees need to clock in and out for their breaks, or if it should just be assumed that they've taken them. The former is more accurate, but the latter can be useful if the employee shouldn't be paid for the break whether they've taken it or not.
- If you are getting employees to clock in and out for breaks you can also decide what happens if they don't do so. Do you assume that they didn't take a break? Or that they did and they forgot to log it? Honestly, we don't know what the right answer is, which is why we've left it up to you.
- If you have specific ways in which you refer to paid and unpaid breaks, for instance, 'Coffee Break' and 'Lunch Break' then you can name them to make it clearer for your team when viewing shifts.
- When you create a shift you'll be asked whether it includes a break and how long the break is, which can get tedious if the answer is always the same. Instead of letting it slowly drive you insane consider setting a default break length, to be pre-populated.
