Brace yourselves, because this might come as a shock; a leave approver is a person who approves leave.
You'd probably figured that much out for yourself though. More specifically, in Shiftie the leave approver is the person who will be notified when a user requests leave. Sure, any old manager can go to an employee's profile and manually respond to any pending leave, but can you imagine the carnage that would ensue if we sent notifications to all of them every time there was a leave request? It doesn't bear thinking about.
Instead, you can nominate one person for each user who will receive the notifications, to keep things nice and simple. If you don't set a leave approver we'll fall back to the default leave approver, so choose wisely to avoid them being inundated with requests.
Also, rather conveniently, a leave approver doesn't have to have the usual permissions to view a user's leave requests. They'll be able to respond to leave for relevant users, but unless they have the appropriate permission level they won't be able to see any other user details.
