In real life, you probably know what a line manager is, of course. They're the person who you say hello to in the mornings, who conducts your reviews, and who you try to hide your hangovers from.
In Shiftie, more or less the same goes. Line managers can access their employees' profiles to view and keep their HR and employment details up to date, as well as see their dubious absence excuses. They also have the power to review and approve their employees' leave requests, leaving you with more time to handle the more important jobs.
The really relevant bit, though, is that if you're a line manager in Shiftie you can do all of that without technically having the necessary permission level to do so. Team members who only have Employee or Schedule Manager level permissions and are generally unable to view user profiles can still be set as line managers, allowing them to manage their teams effectively without having access to everyone else's teams as well.
- Don’t worry, just being a line manager does not permit the employee to view their employees' pay details. They will still require the necessary permissions to view sensitive data.
If you think that's as convenient as we do then you might want to check out our guide on editing employee profiles, to start getting line managers set up. Good luck!
