Every Shiftie account starts with a company. It's where your team, schedules and settings all live, so it's worth getting off to a productive start. The good news: it only takes a few minutes and involves far less paperwork than the real thing.
How do I create a company?
1. Head to shiftie.co and start your free trial.
2. Enter your details to create your account. You’ll need your name, email, password, company name and address.
3. Follow the onboarding. Shiftie walks you through adding your existing data, including your team members and schedules, as you go. Don't worry about getting everything perfect the first time; you can tweak it all later.
4. Once you're in, check your company details. Click the cog icon at the bottom left of your screen and make sure you're on the 'General' tab.
Update any necessary details, then click the save button at the top of the screen.
What do the company details mean?
- Account name and logo: Your company's name and logo. We'll assume you know your own name.
- Language: The language your team will see Shiftie in.
- Timezone: The timezone your business operates in. We use this to keep the schedule accurate, even if someone on your team is working abroad.
- Time format: Show shifts in a 12-hour or 24-hour clock. Choose carefully; 12AM has caused more confusion than anyone would like to admit.
- Start of working week: Monday, Sunday, Saturday or something else entirely. It depends on where you are and how you run things, so it's up to you.
- Currency symbol: Handy if you're tracking shift costs and employee salaries. If not, it's just there to look pretty.
- Public holiday region: Which bank holidays apply to your company. They'll be highlighted on the schedule to help you plan.
- Account owner: The user ultimately responsible for your account. They have full access to everything, and you can't change their permissions or archive them until someone else has been made the Account Owner.
- Primary contact: The user who receives management notifications for anyone without a line manager. This can be any user with Full Access or System Manager permissions.
What should I do next?
Your company is set up, but it's a bit quiet in there. A few good next steps:
- Add your team members
- Set up your locations
- Get to grips with permissions
